2024 Gas Gas EC300 First rides and correcting some issues (TPS voltage and oil leak fix)
Enjoying the new ride, but a few issues I'd like to share in the video as I didn't find a ton of info on what I was experiencing with an oil leak of the 2T oil reservoir, and a very rich issue on the fueling side which I sorted out.
Pro's of this bike; suspension is nice and plush, once cleaned up the TBI has nice useable power, light clutch pull, the braktec brakes feel pretty good coming off Brembo.
Cons; some of the stuff I talk about, which is more of a poor PDI issue than anything else and could have been avoided. Fuel economy not as good as my 22 EX 300 TPI, poor design on clutch master cylinder with the braktec clutch receiving the odd banjo bolt. This could be an issue with certai...

Great event, big turn out, first race on my 24 EC300, wasn't to happy with how the TBI ran, wayyy rich. Something went sideways with my knee around 30 minutes into the first lap, old man problems, had to turn off the race and limp in after lap 1. Congrats to @coastalenduro on his win! This race started off rough, bike didn't fire at start or I mucked it up. First lap didn't go well, jammed my thumb, had someone stuck on a hill climb in front of me, felt like I was back to 10th at some point. Second lap came alive for me, had a very close call with losing my bike down exposure but saved it, lost a couple spots there but eventually moved up into fifth at the finish. The rain m...

Here we go again Round 3, good start but the classes were released with small gaps between them. We caught the class in front of us immediately and the slashing began, lots of yelling and I edited out where Congo lines were boring to watch. Ended up third place after getting passed on last lap. 1080P only to capture most the race go pro cut out on last lap halfway. Shout out to @coastalenduro f...

This was a great race, I managed to get 2nd place in Senior Am and had some good struggles along the way. To start off, I got the Holeshot with @coastalenduro (who ended up winning) right behind me, we got about 5 minutes in and hit a bottle neck, I lost about 5 positions when I tried to go right around it. I came into timing in 3rd place for lap 2, but fell back again a couple positions but ul...

First race of the season held in Squamish! Had a good start, arm pump creeped in slipped back from second to fourth, made a mistake on lap 2 and 3 on a simple hill climb that really mucked my day up and went back to 8th, made up two positions and rolled in sixth out of 24. Got some work to do. Had my camera on and off where there were jams ups and we weren't moving and forgot to turn on most of...

Hey buddy. Any reason why you chose the EC over the EX? I'm considering a Gas Gas 300. $995 for the PDI you'd think they'd check the TPS.
Hi, Im having the same problem with being rich at 1/8 throttle. How exactly do you set the tps voltage? Thanks
I bought an adapter ($20) that clips onto the TPS sensor, it then lets you plug in a volt meter and read it, if you search "KTM TPS voltage adjust" you should find videos. Mine was .450 volts, which is aways out towards the rich side you want to be at .400 volts but there is a process you have to follow.
@@SingleTrackTherapy thanks, are you on Instagram. Wondering if I could DM you or email to get more info
My 2024 ex 300 is running realy good. Sorry your having problems!
It's fixed now, TSP voltage was off.
Great trails and nice pace for sure! Was impressed with riders awareness and moving out of your way as well.
Thank you for sharing sir. Watching now!!
Hey Man, I've notice I've got that same oil leak, also got my bike from International. What did you do to fix the leak? I also had the same starting issue with my bike, I had to adjust the idle up just a little bit and fixed that right up. Edit: Helps when you watch the whole video.. I figured that's where the oil was leaking from.... I should look into checking the TPS Voltage on my bike
Last Question, how big a pain in the ass is it to change out that hose clamp on the oil reservoir?
@@Poco_Dirt_Muppet Not to bad man, if you bought from International we must be fairly close. I cut off the old one without taking anything apart, then snuck in a new hose clamp and tightened it up.
@@SingleTrackTherapy Yah man, I'm out in Port Coquitlam, was actually riding out at McNutt this morning. Wanna help a brother check his TPS sensor 😆
@@Poco_Dirt_Muppet I’m in Poco too
@@SingleTrackTherapy 👍done!
Yah dude sounds like a PDI issue unfortunately :( - Mine came perfectly set from the dealer I bought from but its true these TBI bikes do indeed need some proper PDI to ensure they are set up and if some dealers are not double checking then that is unfortunate. Glad you have things sorted now.
Definitely have to blip the throttle upon startup...
Do you find that on yours you have to? Once I adjusted TPS voltage and idle was set it starts fine now with no throttle in gear.
I agree ☝️ every single 2t I’ve known and had needs some throttle, probably because the spark plugs have oil in them
@@SingleTrackTherapy Mine will start once warmed up without giving it any throttle imput but it seems to start better if I blip the throttle while pressing the starter button at the same time.
Did you figure out the richness issue? Nice video and thanks for sharing!
I did, it was a TPS voltage issue, I am posting a video on how to fix (pretty easy) it but there are others out there as well.
@@SingleTrackTherapy oh I thought it was TBI. Ty sir
@@Milletary It is TBI
@@SingleTrackTherapy Crap so sorry getting the acronyms all mixed up. Apologies
Nice job with the video and riding! That is some nice single track!
Really a pretty damn good ride. ( for a red one, I ride a white one 😅) The throttle problem is why I went back to flag type. The rap around always caused trouble.
@@mikeburnett6222 yup good call it cost me a whole bunch of time!
Ah man, that sucks! Everything alright now??? Well done @coastalenduro on the win!
Ya man the knee is recovering nicely, its like runners knee, I overused it days leading up.
another great start and a nice big bug to start the race with. One of these years I will make it to this race.
About to watch your vid from Silver Kings, Hope you had a great weekend, sounded like a real challenge
@@SingleTrackTherapy Fun to watch these vids on the races, thanks for posting. Great riding. Russ the Silver Kings was some kind of nasty. You will have to try to get Matt and crew to enter next year.
@@Coastal-rsidedown When you are 100% come with us!
@@SingleTrackTherapy I don't know about that, unless you guys want to ride really slowwwwwwwwwww. Hoping to ride this Friday. Woot.
@@Coastal-rsidedown Good News J!
Ah shoot, I thought something was up when I saw you pulled over. Good to see you took it easy and enjoyed the ride. It was a fun weekend!
Ouch, that was a nasty mud hole.
Hi Darren was nice chatting with ya on the line! Not sure how that one got me but I felt it.
Great start and you had a great pace.
Cheers! Wanted more but that's racing when you're old
😊Av vlkhog❤t u yo😮rr😮😢
Great ride!
You had a killer second lap! Impressive pace for those conditions. Out of all the races this year, this one has the most riders off their bike both on and off the course.
Thanks Matt, not sure where you got by me I musta been stuck somewhere, I catch you in my video.
@@SingleTrackTherapy I think it was on the last hill climb that I passed, I took the main line. I was so surprised to see that I had passed you and Matt on lap 1 because I never saw you guys.
@@stanbarry nice job dude you nailed it, I didn't even try first lap just saw carnage, got it in second lap though!
Looks like a new back tire would of been the way to go for this race. I got to ride the day before and the hills where so lose
Actually I had a new IRC VE33S on, its was just slick in some spots
That easyout cost me 5 min at least! Nailed it on the 2nd lap. There was a bunch of our class there all at the same time. Good racing mate!
John, i remember you passing me and saying hi! Nice riding. I nailed it second lap also! Are you going to Monkey Wrench?
@SingleTrackTherapy that's plan. It's been a learning curve so far. First race season. 3 of the 4 races so far I've never ridden those areas. I've got pace, just need to figure out the race craft. I was loving the slippery areas without the rock.
@@John-od7xw Not sure I'll be there, I hope to, have to see how my thumb feels. You learn something every race man, I still got lots to learn, old dogs new tricks. Those slick sections freaked me out, had to keep yelling at myself to go faster.
Nice riding. Looked like the conditions were pretty slick. At least very little dust.
We were hoping for rain, just not that much, second lap was slick for sure! Thanks for watching!
That was a very impressive ride. To see how much time I gained doing that hill when you guys had to deal with that "Easy out" but then be caught by that point in the second lap. I had some close calls early in my second lap and I think it just took 5-10% off my general pace. Well done.
It's interesting man, I'll say it again; chain of events in a race is so dynamic and can alter the outcome.
Great ride! And congrats on 3rd place! Nice work on the holeshot as well.
Thanks Dude, appreciate it!
Awesome ride , you made it look easy..
Vern you found me! Nice meeting you last weekend man, hope to see you out at future races!
Good to see you and Matt up on the podium again. You made the course look smooth where it definitely was not! Nice riding!
Nice work Craig.
Thanks dude, hope you're healing up well!
@@SingleTrackTherapy might make an appearance at bar bender!
@@DNF_enduro I hope to see you there man!
Great run Craig!! Once you clear the traffic you were just flying. "Im coming for you dude!" HAHA, YES! love it.
Your starts are amazing dude. Oh man I love seeing these perspectives where a guy is pulled over for you then see where i bump into that guy etc. Well done.
It amazing how chain of events can shape a race for someone.
Great ride man. Well done!
Nice work Craig. After watching "Old Matthew's" video I realized that you are way to nice in you passing. Get an small canister airhorn on your bars and blast your way through. If you didn't get hung up on a couple of bottleneck, it would have been real interested to watch both you and Matt battling it out head to head with your smooth riding style against Matt's I'm just going to smash through this. Young Matthew, haven't seen your video yet, got to check that out as well. Great riding folks. I will be off the bike until the fall, so I have to enjoy the riding through your vids, so keep them coming.
Ha ha, 100% I am going to glean some of his assertiveness! Sorry to hear you are taking a break, I hope you can find something positive out of it!!
I must have watched that holeshot 10 times already 🤩. Great smooth riding. Awesome to watch you reel them all in after that bottle neck. And to get second place on a flat tire 🤯
How sweet was it we went 1 2, cant wait for this weekend to race with you again buddy!
The 1-2 punch 👊. Wicked comeback 💪
Oh man that was fun to watch and pick out stuff I recognized trying to get a sense of where I was at the time. Gratz on your podium wish I could have stuck around and supported that moment. See you at the next one.
Lets get up there at Piston Run bro!
Nice riding Craig, smooth as always. Congrats on the podium finish!
Thanks Matt!
Where's your video, how did it go for you?
@@SingleTrackTherapy Just posted now. Had a decent start and made some passes, but that middle rock section beat me up good. I feel like my cardio needs a lot of work.

Its a beauty of a trail right now, Fred did a bang up job on it
No doubt, Trail looks to be in fantastic shape.
@@Coastal-rsidedown How was your guys DS ride?
Was good fun. Rode with Fred up Stave Lake area, then headed to the island. Rode to Port Renfrew, then up to Lake Cowichan. A little more pavement than I would have liked. Next time, I will try a different route up to Cowichan or possibly up to Nitnat.

Ha, I watched the guy at 4:48 go off the cliff.
Oh crazy man, I was like “what the hell”

Striving to shred like you dude!
Oh wow you had a fast start man...watching now.
I didn’t record you passing me but I heard and saw the 350, you passed me on MX track and I just never could catch you, you had that 350 lit.
yah you were running well and in second for a long time. I was hoping to catch sight of where I caught up to you but I guess that didnt make it on video. At one point you said you think you have "Russ" in front of you but I wasn't one of the two bikes in sight anyhow. I love having all these perspectives of the same race and class.
@@thesmoness yes so at that point I got a glimpse of your black kit and the bike but I could not get to you.
@@SingleTrackTherapy ah yes I took the low line on the berms.
Great work, that was a punishing course. Especially that new loamy trail section just beating relentlessly on your arms and shoulders.
